Kapture handles browser data only when you start a capture. It does not run analytics, create an account, or upload captures to Kapture or another server.

What is stored

For each capture, Kapture stores the screenshot or recording, the capture time, and—when capturing a tab—the tab’s title and URL. Annotations, tags, and folder names you add are stored with that capture. The microphone preference is stored in Chrome’s local extension storage. Capture media and history are stored in IndexedDB in your browser profile.

Screenshots and recordings can contain anything visible in the selected page, screen, or window, including personal or confidential information. A tab URL can also contain private query parameters. Review a capture before you copy or download it.

Recording audio

Tab or screen audio is recorded only from the source you choose through Chrome’s capture flow. Microphone audio is added only when you enable the microphone switch. Chrome may also show its own permission or source-selection prompts.

Sharing, retention, and deletion

Kapture does not transmit capture data. Copy and download actions happen only when you choose them; after that, you control where the copied or downloaded file goes. Captures remain in your local library until you delete them or use the library’s cleanup control. Temporary recording chunks are removed after a recording is saved or discarded; if a recording is interrupted, leftover chunks are cleared when the next recording session is initialized.

Kapture uses this data only to provide capture, recording, annotation, search, organization, and export features. It does not sell capture data or use it for advertising. There are no third-party analytics or data-sharing services.

Kapture’s use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
